The Real Secrets of Magic Tricks

By James Anthony

Lots of people can walk inside a magic shop and purchase a magic trick. However, by simply operating a magic trick does not make that person a magical performer or magician. The main magic trick is to create an atmosphere for the magic trick. Magic is a form of performing art. It is not enough to just perform a trick; It's up to the performer to create the unique magic. The main difference with a magician and a person who performs magic tricks is all in hte belief that the performer can create within his audience

Most magic shops cater to professional magicians and illusionists carries many illusions. Everything from rope tricks, balloon tricks, card tricks, are all just a few which most amateur magicians can learn without much difficulty. The main way in which the magic tricks are going to be presented is what creates the difference. If you would like to be convincing, take a little look at the way the professional magicians go about presenting their illusions

Comedy magicians have become extremely hip in recent years. Magicians will continue a running dialog of jokes and even appear to make tricks go wrong only to perform more dazzling magic tricks successfully later on. They distract their audiences by keeping them laughing and often use this incredible distraction to prepare their illusions. The comic magician, often famous for his amazing card tricks, would appear to be staggering drunk. The illusions of being drunk was perfect foil to the dexterity which is needed for his card tricks

Another method of misdirection that has become increasingly popular is the shock factor. This is a skill perfected by magicians like Chris Angel. He creates suspense by appearing to put himself in impossibly dangerous situations. In fact, some of these illusions do involve an element of risk and should not be attempted by amateurs. Even with preparation and care, some magic tricks which involves elements like fire, can go terribly wrong. A magic shop usually will not sell illusions that involve danger to non-professionals.

Before buying a magic trick from a magic shop, decide how you will present the magic trick in a way unique to yourself that will entertain your audience while misdirecting them. Most people know that magic is generally just a trick, yet people still want to believe it's real magic. The real magic is creating the suspension and disbelief in your audiences so that they genuinely believe in magic, even if only for the duration of your performance.

Learning the performance skills of an illusion is the easiest part of a magic trick. Instead creating an atmosphere bringing the impossible possible is the important part. Copperfield seems to spend an incredible time preparing his audience for the performing of one of his incredible illusions .... more than he spends performing the actual illusion. Kreskin the Amazing performs a mentalist act which he's able to make the audience suspend disbelief using subtle suggestions... a little like mass hypnosis. The Amazing Kreskin has written a great number of books and has often lectures police on the general use of way for recovering memories of witnesses and bringing out lies through the general observation of body language.

If you want your magic tricks to be convincing, look at the different illusions offered by your magic shop and consider how you would present them. Find an illusion that you know you can present in an entertaining and convincing way for your audience. Magic is a state of mind. - 31879
