Hiring A Magician For Your Wedding - Pros And Cons.

By Andrew Edmonds

I discussed in a previous article what you should be aware of when hiring a magician for your wedding. In writing that article I assumed you had already decided that a magician is what you wanted, the help I gave was in finding the right one.

In this article I will discuss WHY you should be hiring a magician and the advantages and disadvantages in doing so. Now, of course, I am slightly biased given that this is my line of work, but I still think I can put forward a case for the conjuring community.

Now, it makes sense that since you are the centre of attention for pretty much the entire day you will not always be looking out for your guests and seeing if they are okay. This is where a magician can step in to add that extra dimension to your guests wedding experience and give you peace of mind knowing that they are in good hands.

A magician can be extremely versatile, slotting in with ease during any part of the day and not disrupting the flow of the event.

Popular times when a magician can wow your guests are:

Wedding entertainmentduring the photos

Since the formal wedding photographs involve only small groups at a time, the majority of your guests will be waiting or engaging in small talk with others. This is a great time for a magician to provide an unforgettable experience while at the same time helping to break the ice between different groups of guests.

During the wedding breakfast

The wedding breakfast is another popular time for entertainment. A professional magician will not interrupt whilst people eat but will entertain a table at a time between courses. It is always a lovely moment for the wedding couple to hear loud spontaneous cheers from different tables.

Magic during the evening reception

A magician can also entertain during the evening reception when all your evening guests have arrived and the party is in full swing. With formalities out the way this is usually a very relaxed part for all and having a magician entertain can provide a very memorable experience for all. A magician can mingle with guests and even perform a small show which will always include the wedding couple.

Now it would be wrong for me to JUST discuss all the positives involved in hiring a magician and not look at some negatives, albeit very few that I can think of.

The cost is usually the first thing people think of and, like any other genre of entertainment, you get what you pay for. A good magician will likely set you back around five hundred pounds, not cheap.

Secondly, it will take you time find the right magician. I cannot stress enough how important it is that you put the effort in, if not, another downside is that you will likely spend the duration of the time he is performing wondering if he is entertaining your guests to the standard you expect on your big day. Trust me, you do not need any more stress. Yes, it will take time which you may not have, but it is essential. See my article "5 things to be aware of when booking a magician for your wedding" to make this process a lot easier.

So, to wrap up, if you have the budget and time to find the right person for the job, you will not regret hiring a magician for your wedding. You will likely hear your guests talking about "that magician" or "that trick" for years to come which will surely bring a smile to your face. - 31879
